Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) was born on Thursday February 1628 AD 1st Jamadi -us thani 1102H in Shorkot (Modern Pakistan) in the reign of Emperor Orangzeb Alamgeer. His mother’s name was Hazrat Bibi Rasti (Allah bless her soul) who was a very pious lady. In her dream, she was once told that she would be blessed with a son; she was advised to name him “Bahoo”. She was also informed that the child would be very pious and he would be a great Sufi Master and a wali Allah (friend of Allah), by birth.

In his childhood there was a light on his face, if a non-Muslims looked his face he would recite kalima tayiba. Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) states in one of his books that Hazrat Mohammad (blessing and salutation be on him) and he himself are ummy (not had any formal education). He says that Allah Almighty rewarded him with Ilm-e-laduni (inspired knowledge) so a formal education was not needed.

Sultan sahibs tombAt the age of thirty Hazrat Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) had a vision that Hazrat Ali (Allah be pleased with him), on a horse, took him to the court of Rasool Allah (blessing and salutation be on him). There he was ordered to take bait (oath of allegiance) on the Mubarak hand of Rasool Allah (blessing and salutation be on him). [Ref: Rasala Roohi]. Then the Holy prophet (blessing and salutation be on him) introduced Hazrat Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) as his noori hazoori son and ordered Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jelani (Allah Almighty be pleased with him) to guide Hazrat Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul). The Sheikh obeyed the order and accepted Hazrat Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) as his talib (seeker or diciple). That is the reason Hazrat Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) and his followers are called Sarwari Qadri. Sarwari because he took bait (oath of allegiance) on the hand of Rasool Allah (blessing and salutation be on him) and Rasool Allah (blessing and salutation) is known as sarwar-e-konane i.e. the leader of this world and the hereafter; Qadri due to the fact that Hazrat Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) was the disciple of Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jelani (Allah be pleased with him). If anyone wants to bypass Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jelani (Allah be pleased with him) and claims to be a sufi, he is nothing more than an impostor. picture of the tomb of Sheikh Abdul Qader Jilani(RA)

Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) states in Rasala Roohi, Hazoor faiz-al-noor exalted prophet (blessing and salutation be on him) ordered me to guide the creation of God, either Muslim or kafir, either fortunate or unfortunate, either dead or alive after looking at this the question arises, how can dead be instructed? One interpretation is, they could be prayed for and Allah Almighty forgives their sins and blesses them. The other interpretation is that the people who have destroyed or suffocated their spirituality with their sinful life style, the duty of a true Sufi is to help them (even when they are dead) as they have been victims of mischief of Shaitan and their own nafs (inner urges).

Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) was ordered by his mother (Allah bless he soul) to go and search for a living Sheikh, from whom he could receive a spiritual wealth. He asked his mother to be his sheikh but she told him that she was unable to do so because the lady of heaven Hazrat Bibi Fatima (Allah be pleased with her) never took anyone as a talib. After that he visited various Sheikhs and finally took biat (oath of allegiance) on the hand of Sayyed Abdul Rahman Qadri (Allah bless his soul) who is from the blessed blood line of Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jelani (Allah Almighty be pleased with him). One might get confused with the fact that Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) became disciple of Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA) then why did he need a living Sheikh. The answer is, the physical biat is equally important among Sufis. As for as the trust of a spiritual treasure is concerned, it is placed in a particular living sheikh: one has to obtain it from him. That's why Bibi Rasti (Allah bless her) told him to find a living Sheikh. In his writings he mentions that he searched for a living Sheikh for forty years and after his bait and becoming a sheikh he sought a true talib (seeker o disciple) to whom he could pass his spiritual knowledge in the form of Zakat (for the wealth of the spiritual knowledge he had received). He further states that throughout his life he remained unable to find such talib of Allah. .

Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) is also known as Sultan ul Arfeen. It is so because, in Marifat e Elahi (recognition of Allah), he far excelled the other Sufi masters and Sufi poets of his time and wrote approximately one hundred and forty books. All of them are in Farsi beside one, Abiat-e-Bahoo which is in Suraki language. It is a poetry book and it has been translated and interpreted by Professor Sultan Altaf Ali sahib. In English it has been translated and interpreted by a modest talib of Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammed Ali sahib. There have been other translations by the people who never understood the essence of the message Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) conveyed. In his poetry one finds essence of the entire literature he wrote: it is unique. On many occasions, within his writings, he mentions that he wrote the books with the approval of Rasool Allah (blessing and salutation be on him) and if one holds any of his books as a guide then one will find it according to ones own perception. The status and the spiritual levels of Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) could be understood from his books..

At present Sultan sahib literature is being taught as a syllabus in Islahijamaat at Durbar shrif and at Kaloorkot in Khoshab.

Mi Fatima mastoin (absorbed)

Once Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) was travelling through Dera Ghazi Khan (in modern Pakistan) with a few other dervishes and they reached in a village near a town called Fatha Khan. The dervishes decided to have something to eat and to have a little rest for a while. They went to a house of a dai (wet mother) and requested her to cook them some chapattis in her tandoor (oven). She told them that her baby daughter was suffering from an eye infection, she was in great pain and she was constantly crying. Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) told her not to worry and started looking after the baby. In the meantime other faqeers went to fetch some woods for fire and the lady started making the dough. The little girl was in the cradle and he sat by her and gave her a glance of contemplation of Ism-e- Allah zaat; she got engaged in the dhikr in such a way that her whole body started echoing with it: she stopped crying. When the mother didn't hear her baby crying she came running to the cradle and said, O old man what have you done to my baby, you haven't strangled or killed her? He said, I haven't killed her but I have given her a new life and she will not need her cradle rocked. When the mother lifted the sheet from the baby's face, what she saw was strange. Her baby's face was glowing, her whole body was echoing with Allah hoo Allah hoo and she was in the state of absorption. The mother was shocked and felt the impact of the glance upon her too and her heart engaged in the dhikr as well. She was ashamed of her earlier remarks and asked for forgiveness. The news got around the village and whoever looked at the baby his/her heart would liven up with the dhikr as well. The baby was named as Mai Fatima Mastoin (absorbed). Her shrine is famous as a living grave (term used for the mizars from where one gets instantaneous response and guidance of true path of Allah). (mokhzanal israr)mokhzanal israr)

Encounter with Sheer Shah Sahib

On another journey Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) engaged in the dhikr while passing through a forest where some talibs (seekers or disciples) of Sher Shah (Allah bless his soul) were collecting woods for fire. One of them saw him and said salam. When Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) looked at him and answered, the talibs heart started the dhikr (the feeling of the dhikr of heart is so sensational that one has to feel it themself in order to find out its power) he fell on the feet of Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) and started crying with the joy of continues internal dhikr. Another talib saw him crying and went over to investigate. He also got a glance from Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) and his heart started dhikr and he too started crying. When the rest of the talibs saw this state, they lifted the woods and ran back to report the matter to Hazrat Sher Shah (Allah bless his soul). When Shah sahib (Allah bless his soul) heard the story he came to the forest and spotted Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) who was engaged in the dhikr with his concealed spiritual radiant.

Hazrat Sher Shah (Allah bless his soul) said, I don't know who you are, a magician or some kind of imposter. I will report you to the court of Rasool Allah (blessing and salutation be on him). Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) agreed to meet in the exalted court and then to meet in the forest the following day. That night when Hazrat Sher Shah (Allah bless his soul) entered the court of Rasool Allah (blessing and salutation be on him) he stared at everyone but he was unable to see Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul). All of sudden he saw a child emerging from the blessed sleeve of Rasool Allah (blessing and salutation on him) and Rasool Allah (blessing and salutation on him) kissed the child and passed him over to ahle bait (family of our exalted Prophet blessing and salutation be upon him) and companions (Allah be pleased with them) and further along to all those present in that meeting. Eventually the child came to Hazrat Sher Shah (Allah bless his soul), he started playing with his beard and pulled two hairs from it. Hazrat Sher Shah (Allah bless his soul) felt pain but didn't react due to the respect and dignity of Rasool Allah (blessing and salutation on him). The child went back and disappeared in the sleeve of Rasool Allah (blessing and salutation on him). The next day Hazrat Sher Shah (Allah bless his soul) met Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) and said; I knew you were a fraudulent impostor. I didn't see you in the court of Rasool Allah (blessing and salutation on him) last night. Shah sahib how many witnesses are acceptable in Sharia (Islamic divine law)? Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) asked. Two, Shah sahib replied. Then Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) presented him the two hair of his beard and said, Here are the witnesses. Hazrat Shah (Allah bless his soul) was embarrassed and he apologised for his outburst. He requested Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) to take him as his talib so that he could be elevated to the highest spiritual levels too. Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) granted his wish and told him that there were some higher levels in the court of Rasool Allah (blessing and salutation on him): only certain talibs could get the honour to be there. That was the reason Hazrat Sher Shah (Allah bless his soul) was unable to see Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul). (mokhzanal israr)

Ahu Bahu(Bahu and his Deer)

During his journey to Wadi of Soon Skaser (modern day Pakistan) Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) saw a young shepherd aged about twelve years. Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) looked at the boy and his heart felt the rhythm and palpitation of dhikr; as a result, the boy left his flock and followed Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul). When they reached Kalar Kahar in Chakwal (modern day Pakistan), Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) entered a cave for the dhikr and the young boy and another dervish stayed outside. The same evening the moon for the month of Ramadan was sighted and Ramadan started. The young shepherd saw a deer coming towards him in such a state that with a cloth two chapattis were hanging with its horn. He took the chapattis, ate one and left the other for sehri (the early morning meal to start the fast). That routine continued throughout the month of Ramadan. On the last day of the Ramadan the new moon was sighted and people started beating the drum in the happiness of Eid. Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) remained in the cave throughout the month of Ramadan and with the noise of drum beats he came out and enquired about the noise, he was informed that it was the end of Ramadan. He said; I have been in the cave and didn't realise and a whole month of Ramadan has passed! He then enquired the young shepherd how did he manage to get food. The boy told the deers routine. Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) glanced at the jungle and the deer (who was a guardian angel) came out and requested to be with Allah Almighty. Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) passed the concentration of Ism-e-Allah zaat upon the deer; the heart of the dear couldn't sustain it and it died on the spot. After that he turned to the boy and asked him his name but the young boy forgot his own name. Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) named him as Bahoo and asked him what he wished for. The boy said the same as the deer. He was asked three times and the answer was same every time. As a result, the boy received the concentration of Ism-e-Allah zaat and even the hair on his body invoked with the dhikr of Allah. His heart could not sustain the powerful concentration and passed away after a short while. There were a couple of pigeons (Khumri) on a branch overlooking the incidents: they started chanting Haq Bahoo Haq Bahoo. Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) buried the deer and the young Bahoo in kalar kahar. Their shrine was known as aahoo Bahoo. The beautiful Mizar (shrine) of Aahoo Bahoo, at the hill top of Kalar Kahar, is still visited by people from all over the country. Some evil-minded people, who are against the shrines and marifat of Allah, has spread the false information about the shrine. They have, deliberately, distorted the history of this shrine by changing its name. The government must stop such distortion of shrines and other historic places. It is not merely a visit but the seekers of the closeness of Allah Almighty get fulfilment from such places.

Some time prior to Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) Baba Fareed-ud-deen Ganj-shakar (Allah bless his soul) passed by kalar kahar. There was a huge reservoir of water in that area and some ladies were getting water from it. When Baba Fareed-ud-deen Ganj-shakar (Allah bless his soul) asked one of them for some water she refused and made and excuse that the water was bitter. Baba Fareed-ud-deen Ganj-shakar (Allah bless his soul) was angered by the response and said, Yes, it is bitter. After that the water of the reservoir turned bitter. When the people found out what had happened they went in the search of Baba Fareed-ud-deen Ganj-shakar (Allah bless his soul) but no luck. The people of the area were told by a wise man that a person would enter in the village in the coming times, he could help them and he gave the description of that man. When Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (Allah bless his soul) finished burying the young boy and the deer, some people recognised him (he fitted the description given by the wise man). They requested him to turn back the bitter water into the sweet water. He told them that no one was able to make it sweet because only the person who had turned it bitter (baba Fareed) had the authority to do so. He felt sorry for the people and just pointed at a spot and asked them to dig and the water started rushing through. The source of water is so big that a few yards from it is a water mill and the water is the same ever since. (By Sultan Sakhi Mohammad Moazam Ali sahib)

.

At the Durbar of Hazrat Sultan Abdul Aziz (Allah bless his Soul)by the room next to Head office of Islahi jamaat one could hear them all at once in a form of chorus at about 3am but also during the day as well, but not like the early morning experience..
